Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"I love school, teacher!" are the words that are music to my ears. Kindergarten is the beginning of a lifetime of education. Hearing my students talk about how much they love school and they love to learn is setting the bar for the rest of their education.
Being a Title I school, my students come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences..
It is important to provide a safe, caring space for these students to learn and grow despite their home challenges.
My Project
Kindergarten starts a journey through education. Kindergarten is the year when students learn to read and write. It is crucial to provide students with a connection between home and school.
Many of my students come from a low-income household with a limited access to reading materials for their age.
These book bags will allow appropriate books to be sent home each night so that each student has a book they can read on their own. Reading each night is essential to learning and without these bags to transport books back and forth, many of my students do not have the opportunity to read.
The durability of a cloth book bag will provide students with a reliable way of carrying books home without damaging or losing the books inside. It would be helpful to students for years to come to have access to these bags!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
