My Students

Do you know what it's like to sit on cold, hard, tiles or cement? My students are facing that very uncomfortable situation!

My future kindergarten students are from a public school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

They will be 5-6 years old and full of enthusiasm for school. Some of them will be a little frightened to start this new journey and others will be ready to dive right in!

My Project

Our classroom is on the larger size, with no comfortable area for our class to closely gather as a whole. I'm requesting an alphabet carpet to place in our literacy center. Because many of our students come to kindergarten without any prior knowledge, it is essential to provide them a literacy rich classroom. The alphabet carpet can help do just that!

For many children, kindergarten is their first formal schooling.

I want my students to come into a bright and engaging classroom. Most importantly, I want my students to feel comfortable. Sitting on tiles placed over concrete flooring is not comfortable. By helping to purchase this carpet for my students, you will be ensuring that this critical start to their education is a positive experience. In the words of Robert Fulghum, "All I really need to know... I learned in kindergarten."
