Kindergarten Makerspace

My Students

My students want to build, create, design to explore and learn in our kindergarten classroom.

My students are creative, energetic and eager to learn about the world around them!

They thrive when they are provided with hands-on learning opportunities. Their needs and abilities range from just learning the English language to becoming proficient readers. However, no matter the ability, they all learn best by "doing." We love exploring, creating and playing every day to learn new skills.

My Project

My students need materials to create a classroom makerspace. In order to create an effective makerspace, our area needs to be a safe learning environment where students are able to collaborate and freely design, build and learn. Osmo is an interactive game that makes learning fun and engaging. Osmo connects to the iPad and allows students the opportunity to develop math and literacy skills which are vital skills for students to learn. We need an additional iPad mini to use with the Osmo gaming systems. The design and build engineering system will allow my students the opportunity to build and design strong bridges and to build vehicles that move and tow other items. The wobble cushions are an important part to our makerspace by providing a comfortable place to work while still allowing the body to be active.

My job as a teacher is to provide my students with rich learning experiences that will build a strong foundation that will help my students to become life long learners.

Having a makerspace in our kindergarten classroom will provide an incredible learning experience for all of my students.
