My Students
My students are so curious about the world. At four and five years old, they are constantly asking questions and want to know more. Their desire for knowledge is evident. In these fundamental years of development, they are learning to be readers and writers. This group has a passion for learning.
My students are highly motivated kindergartners from West Harlem (Title I District) that have so much potential to succeed.
My class student population is diverse and is made up of multiple ethnicities, ENL (English as a New Language), IEP (Individualized Education Program) students. Diversity within our school is something we embrace and nurture.
In kindergarten, we teach children about empathy. This group is caring and they always strive to be better community members. They take an interest in each other. I want my students to always take pride in themselves and their learning materials.
My Project
My students love listening to read alouds! Dr. Seuss is one of their favorite authors because of the silly rhymes and made up characters. They are always laughing while reading these books. I want to grow my classroom library by adding more books my students will love.
They are just beginning to read and Dr. Suess books are supporting them with identifying and sounding out words in a fun and engaging way.
My kindergarteners are aspiring readers with a love for books and your support to this project will help them be successful in kindergarten and beyond!
