I am so excited to start a new school year with a new group of magical kindergarten students! In the past, I have had class pets like fish, a bearded dragon, and a guinea pig. It is such a fun, well-rounded, and memorable learning experience to have a class pet. This year, I would love to get an axolotl for our class pet (my biology class had one when I was in high school and I loved it--and this was before they were all the rage with kids).
With your help funding this project, my precious kindergarteners will experience their life science standards in a hands-on way as they observe and care for a class pet they are sure to love--an albino axolotl!
It is so important for me as an educator to seize any chance I get to make real world connections, for my students, for what we are learning in class. These are the kinds of experiences children never forget.
