This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love my classroom and my students. Kindergarten should be and is, at Maybury School, a lively, animated and energetic place. We are always on the move, always creating new projects and always excited about learning!!

My students are full of enthusiasm and a desire to learn.

We are an urban district and with poor and under served families. The children and families in our neighborhood love this school. They rallied to keep this school open when Detroit was closing many schools. We have very limited funding from our school district.

My Project

My classroom is in the basement of the school. I need a roll of bright colored paper, a set of Very Hungry Caterpillar boarders, 2 pencil sharpeners, a set of dry erase markers, and an Apple MacBook Air with a case to make a bright and cheerful classroom with a working SMART board. My students need to have bright colors throughout the day to keep them energized. The bulletin boards need to have background paper and boarders that inspire them. The computer will link to the SMART board that the district has purchased so that we can run it in our classroom.

With your help, my classroom can utilize the technology of a SMART board that will help them learn and create a cheerful, bright environment that welcomes students and encourages learning throughout the school year.
