This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My kindergarten students are diverse, unique, inquisitive, and love to learn. Even though they each come to school with their own struggles and challenges, they push through each day and I am super proud of them.

They all will, no doubt, be future leaders and what better way to prepare them for their future learning than starting a savings fund for college.

Learning about financial literacy at an early age would be so beneficial for my kindergarten kiddos. They will learn about the importance of saving for their future, spending wisely on their current needs and wants, and investing over time to spark generational wealth. The read aloud book found in this project would help build connections and curiosity around saving for college. The wooden boxes would be used so they can create and decorate their own piggy banks to start saving for college. In addition, they will research different colleges and use the poster board to display information about a college of their choice. They will share why they have selected that particular college. My goals are to engage families and students in conversations about college and choices, build excitement around financial literacy, and promote saving for college and their futures.
