Kindergarten Garden Project

Help me give my students a garden experience and beautify our kindergarten playground.

My Project

Our kindergarten science curriculum includes learning about plants and what plants need. Our playground has an area with decomposed granite and we want to beautify the area with raised garden beds.

We want the students to see the steps in starting a garden, taking care of a garden and then being able to eat some of the things that they have grown.

We are also trying to emphasize healthy eating and we think that if kids grow their own vegetables they may be more likely to eat vegetables.

We will use the seed starters and soil to start our plants and then we will transfer them to the raised garden beds.

We have 2 kindergarten classes, one UTK class, and one special education class that will participate in the gardening.
