Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When you enter the door to our kindergarten class, you will see twenty boys and girls playing and working with manipulatives ranging from counting counters, letter blocks, a magnifying glass, etc. Though my students come from different backgrounds and nationalities, they all learn through play and hands-on experiences. Many of them speak Spanish as a first language.

They yearn to connect and learn from one another.

My students come to kindergarten with a range of prior knowledge, however, I differentiate instruction to cater to all their needs. They are full of energy, and they learn best from moving and acting out.

My Project

As a teacher, I am always looking for materials that will help my curious learners. I do, we do, you do. Modeling is very important in a kindergarten classroom. The easel will help me model writing during circle time and then students will elaborate on the task in literacy centers. The watercolors will help my students illustrate their ideas in an artistic, creative way. This project will also help my students have an active and fun recess time! Students will be able to stay active by using hula hoops, and the bubble machine will add to the fun.

I believe it is important to provide different students with different avenues to learning.

Through the use of these resources, I will be able to best meet each student's needs. It will in-turn promote a more fun, successful school year!
