Each of these items will support the learning and brain development of my kindergarten class, especially in the areas of letter recognition, letter sounds, and STEM creativity.
The goal of our classroom is to provide a range of early literacy and STEM manipulatives that will engage each learner at their level.
My students will use the pipe builders and Magna-Tiles to help unlock their creativity in open-ended build time. Students will use the Wikki Stix Activity Center and the additional Wikki Stix as well as the Alphabet Play-Doh mats to build their own letters in a tactile way to help increase letter recognition and reinforce letter sounds.
The students will use the Build-a-Letter activity center to see letters are built with similar shapes - constructing and deconstructing letters will increase letter recognition. The Alphabet Learning Locks help students associate upper and lowercase letters and explore letter sounds. The Letter Recognition Learning Center will allow up to four children to explore the alphabet independently. Students will use the Lace-a-Word beads to reinforce letter recognition and move into spelling words.
