Kindergarten Classroom Rug

Help me give my students a new, clean, fun rug! This smiley face rug will promote a welcoming environment, while also helping them learn how to sit appropriately in the classroom, in their very own space!

My Project

This rug will help my students learn to sit criss cross applesauce, in their own space. Having a designated smiley face for each child will help limit distractions while learning, as they will have expectations to stay in their own space, and keep their body's to themselves.

My goal for having this rug is to create a classroom family.

My classroom is a place where we are happy to have everyone, and everyone belongs. Having a designated smiley face for each student will help build our classroom community.

Another goal I have for this rug is to teach expectations. My students will spend a lot of their time on this rug, so it is important that they know what is expected of them at rug time. Whether they are in my classroom, or with another teacher for specials, they should always know what behavior is appropriate during rug time.

My sweet kindergarteners are so special, and deserve to have a special rug! They deserve to feel like they belong. They deserve to know that we are happy to have them. Kindergarten is the first of many school years, so I want to set the tone in a positive and exciting way, by making my classroom a positive and exciting learning environment!
