This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help our kindergarten students become writers from the first day they step into the classroom!
My school is located in Nashville.
It has a large population of ELL students who come to school without the basics of the English Language. They have to acquire not only the basic kindergarten skills, but a whole new language at the same time! Talk about tough!
My Project
By donating to our project, you will be providing primary writing journals with prompts and pictures for my students. ELL students need lots of visuals so they can connect the words with the meanings behind them. With these prompt ready journals you are providing them with vocabulary (which research shows is one of the leading indicators of how well a child will succeed) and the pictures they need to connect the words to the meanings.
This project is extremely important, because it is important to get kindergarten students writing as soon as they enter school.
You would be helping us to grasp the language that much sooner!
