This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is one with a high poverty level, and it is important for our students to become literate in order to go as far as possible in life.
Our school is in a high poverty level in Tennessee.
We have a large number of ELL students (English Language Learners) who don't speak English. Our students are struggling to meet rigorous standards when they do not even speak English. They try hard every day and persevere against many odds.
My Project
With the leveled readers that I have requested, my students will be able to participate in guided reading. Guided reading with leveled readers helps students become more familiar with reading on their own, as well as receiving small group instruction that will give students the tools and information they need to read on their own.
By receiving these materials you will be helping students with the odds stacked against them have a chance to further their literacy.
This project will impact these students for years to come by jump-starting their reading.
