My Students

This project is for a brand new, first year teacher's classroom. She has 27 energetic, kind, smart, quirky Kindergarten students. These students LOVE their Morning Meeting each day and would LOVE a cool rug to bring the class together around. I never quite know what each day will bring - they surprise me each day from wanting to be a dinosaur to shouting out I Love You at random times and everything in between. I love their big hearts and little minds!

My Project

We do so much of our learning together on the carpet. Having an inviting, organized space to work together will help us get along with each other and do our best learning! We will use the rug for read aloud time, morning meeting, reading, writing and math instruction, and partner work. Kindergarten students are trying to figure out what school is all about so we spend a lot of our time learning and practicing the skills of a good friend and student! A rug would bring our classroom together, much like a family gathers together. All students want to feel welcome and loved at school. This would help create space for it!
