My Students

This year my 1st grade classroom is full of wonderers, mathematicians, readers, writers, artists and scientists. They ask questions, explore and discover. They work together and strive to do their personal best. They arrive at school eager to share their observations and thoughts about the world around them.

Their enthusiasm and curiosity are a source of daily inspiration.

Every day we work, learn and grow together at our arts and inquiry based elementary school. I worked with these amazing students in Kindergarten as well, so it is truly a joy to see their continued growth as we dive in to 1st grade.

My Project

Next fall I will begin a two year journey with a new group of Kindergartners. I am requesting a variety of pens, paints and other art supplies including Craft Tape, Canvas Tote Bags and markers which will help them get started as Kindergarten artists.

We will begin the year by creating a variety of self portraits using the supplies provided by your generous donations.

This process will help us to get to know each other, learn how to use and care for our materials and express ourselves. Students will have opportunities to share their work with their new classmates. We will then use the portraits to decorate the space which we will share for the next two years. Soon the bare walls of our classroom will fill with their portraits, creating a sense of ownership and investment in our learning community.
