Kindergarden -The Place to Grow Readers

My students need a new rug for our classroom. It would be really beneficial to their learning because there are a lot of activities that can be done with it.

My Students

My students are very eager to learn. They love to read and love to be read to. We have a school wide program that encourages reading at home and the students love to participate in that.

We live in the southern part of West Virginia, and it is a wonderful place to live.

I have twenty-three kindergarten students in my classroom, and they are great kids. They are always telling me stories about what they like and what they like to do. They also love to listen to me tell stories about my life when I was a kindergarten student, and when I was growing up. The school that they attend has over 700 students, and there are seven kindergarten classes!! It is a big school, but has a small school feel to it.

My Project

When our county consolidated schools to make the new school we are in now (which is a lot better), I had to leave a lot of things behind that I used in my classroom (including my alphabet rug). I love the new school that I am at, but I hated to leave my rug behind for another school to take. So before school started, I purchased a plain rug myself for my students to sit on during circle time, but it's just not the same. It would be really beneficial for them to be able to have an alphabet rug, so we could play letter identification games on it, work on letter sounds, and just to have something a little more colorful for them to sit on.

I have been a teacher for over fifteen years, and I love my job and my students.

I would greatly appreciate any help that I receive in completing this project, and my students will be very grateful!! Thank you for your help!!
