Kinder Writers Unite!!

My students need 30 writing composition notebooks for our writing unit this year, erasers for our writing wipe-off boards and pencil grips for our pencils.

My Students

Have you ever tried to write and erase on a newspaper over and over again without making a big hole in the paper? My students need good paper to write on that will hold up to the eraser rubbing of a five year old!!

I teach Kindergarten in a Title One elementary school.

This year we are faced with large class sizes again. 49 students will work very hard within my classroom walls this year. Most of them come from homes of very limited resources and stories that most can not even imagine. Books and pencils will be introduced to them for the first time when they enter my classroom. Most of them have never attended preschool or a headstart program because of money issues. With our school (state) adopting the common core, we will be writing more this year.

My Project

These notebooks will be used to capture my students best writing attempts throughout the entire year. The paper is good quality and we will be wasting less of the school bought newsprint that rips so easily. The erasers will be a nice change in our room replacing the old socks we use now. We use our wipe-off boards daily to help use less paper. The pencil grips will also help those students who continue to struggle with the concept of how to hold a pencil correctly.

Helping me with this project will mean so much to me.

I love what I do and I love the students who I teach!! My students have so little and appreciate so much -- this would mean the world to us!! With your help, we can become successful writers this year!!
