This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"I can't see!", said the child sitting at the back of the carpet. Kindergarten students are visual learners, they need to see everything! All enrichment programs now have a technology component with graphics, interactive stories, and on-line resources to satisfy this need. But, we still can't see!

I teach 21 students who are eager and excited to learn.

My students attend a large public school and come from low income households and over half of them are English Language Learners and are attending school for the first time. Kids love technology and need to be exposed to it now! They don't have many opportunities to participate in technological activities outside of my classroom. Due to the lack of funds at our public schools there are not enough funds to get an LCD projector in every classroom and since I teach Kindergarten, I am at the bottom of the priority list for technology.

My Project

Having an LCD projector will allow all students to see the amazing graphics, interactive stories, and will allow me to use the On-line resources that are provided by our enrichment programs as it is projected in front of the classroom! This will be so exciting for my students! They will have the opportunity to come up and point out letters, words, as well as see characters and new vocabulary come to life. This is the year that most students learn to read, and those that can need to develop their vocabulary and fluency. Especially important for my EL students is the need to connect vocabulary with the world around them. Students could also learn and practice concepts of print (parts of a book, word tracking, etc.) as a whole group activity.

I am always looking for new ways to improve instruction and learning in my class.

Having an LCD projector will help students have a better understanding of concepts being taught after they can "SEE" examples modeled before the entire class.
