Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This school year is a little different from the others. I am excited to say that my Kinder students this year are given the chance to be able to have a calming corner in our classroom. I have always felt and believed that in order for any student to be successful academically, you have to take care of the social-emotional part as well. I would like to make the calming corner as inviting, soothing and nurturing for my students. The Flexy Space Comfy Floor Seats will allow kids a special place to sit in the calm corner area, different from their regular sitting area in the classroom. My Feelings Journal will allow my students to express their emotions as they color an emoji on each page to show how they’re feeling that day—then draw and write about it! The Mood Flip Book will Help my students to identify and manage their feelings-emotions, while also teaching self regulating strategies. I feel with the Kimochis, students can pick the feeling they are experiencing. The organizer cart will help keep all clam corner supplies in order since we hope to keep adding to it. At last, the stress relief gadgets and toys will help my students destress. Students will also have pencils and colored pens of their choice, in which they will write and draw of how they are feeling.
