This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students have never been in school and are needing support with their math skills. I feel exposing them to all these different learning games and materials will help extend their learning! My students are just learning their numbers. They are excited to learn more and are hands-on learners. Which means to learn, they have to play and manipulate the materials with their hands (like counting). My students are eager learners! They are curious, inquisitive, and eager to work together. This is why I would like to purchase personal white boards that they can use to solve their math equations, using manipulative's and other hands on materials. The small magnetic white board sets will be used as students sit on the carpet and work with partners to solve different math problems. Students have also never worked in teams, so I would like to purchase these different math learning games which will be used during our math rotating stations, while I am able to work with my Intervention group. Using the white boards/lap boards, students can sit flexibly around the classroom while they work. Each student in their group will learn how to Synergize with their classmates, and learn the importance of numbers in our everyday lives and how we use them. Kinders love working with manipulatives and other math learning tools like number lines so they can learn to visualize numbers. If they had some of these math materials, they would be able to not only help each other with working collaboratively, but will also learn and sharpen their math skills personally. Having a voice amplifier lets students hear procedures and routines so they can get busy.
