My Students

My students will be new to our school! I teach kindergarten in the suburbs of Las Vegas and this year is going to start very differently! I am going to meet my students virtually. We are going to get to know each other in a new (and hopefully fun) way!

Kindergarteners are usually one of two things at the start of the school year: they are either so excited to be at school or somewhat fearful of the new experience.

I hope to help them learn to love school even though we are not physically together. It will be a challenge but it will be possible! We can do this!

My Project

This year is definitely something unique! My district has decided to go full time distance learning to start the 2020-21 school and my students will be going to school for possibly the very first time! My students will be just 4 and 5 years old as they enter this "new" version of school. Keeping their attention (for an extended period of time) in person is already difficult at this age, but now we have to try to accomplish the same things online!

My school is working hard to get materials into the hands of each student at home so they can be successful with at home learning.

We have been able to gather together the basics....crayons, paper, pencil, etc. and will be distributing these to them at the beginning of the year. However to help our students learn crucial math skills they need manipulatives to help them be successful! This request will help me add to our bag with materials my students need to help them get a solid foundation in number sense.
