This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Kindergarten students are inquisitive and eager to learn. My greatest challenge is providing my student's and their families literacy resources they can use at home.

I teach at a public school in an low income inner city area of Los Angeles.

My school does not have the extra funds to purchase "extra" resources for our students. These literacy resources will help provide a tool that their parents' can use to help their children become more successful academically.

My Project

My young students would use the Scholastic subscriptions in class to encourage discussions of current events and topics to develop their speaking ability and confidence. My students would take the magazines home to share with their parents. Their parents would use this magazine as a resource to read with their child.

Your generous donations would provide my Kindergarten students with resource to improve their literacy skills at school and at home.

These magazines would make a difference in the lives of my students by providing a foundation in literacy that would help them succeed academically in school.
