This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember the old overhead projectors that your teachers would use? The teacher would write on the screen and you were able to see what they were doing. Technology has grown so much. With a document camera, I can project a small book onto the screen for all the children to see.

I am privileged to teach 20 Kindergarten students.

They are eager and excited to learn. My students attend a large public school and come from low income households. Most students are learning English as a second language and are attending school for the first time. They don't have many opportunities to participate in technological activities outside of my classroom.

My Project

"Teacher, I can't see!" is what I hear from the student sitting at the back of the carpet. Having a document camera will allow all students to see books in large print as it is projected in front of the classroom! A document camera is the next step to seeing everything BIG! This will be so exciting for my young learners! They will have the opportunity to come up and point out letters, words, characters, setting, etc from small books. My students will be able to see how to write the letters with the correct formation as the teacher models it on the big screen. The students will also be able to project their own work onto the big screen when sharing with the class.

We all know how important reading and learning how to write can be, and you can be part of helping a child become successful in life. These items will mean so much to my students because they will all have an opportunity to share the love of reading!
