This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a kindergarten teacher in a small elementary school in inner city Los Angeles. We have been greatly affected by the budget cuts to education in California. We do not have art supplies: My school is unable to purchase these essential resources that my students need to create works of art.

My young students are intelligent and eager to learn.

My students' parents are very hardworking but are struggling to meet the most basic needs of their children. They cannot afford to help our school or provide resources and experiences that would enrich their children's education.

My Project

I am requesting construction paper to create books & student self selected art projects that will help them express their artistic abilities. The collage beads, ABC punchers and glue sticks will be used to create ABC books that they will share with their families. My students will use the twistup crayons to illustrate drawings and pictures for fun! We will use the playdough at a center to create letters & sculptures. All these resources will help my students love school & learning.

Your generous donation will provide my students with the resources to create works of art.

As a teacher, I incorporate art into many academic subjects such as Literature, Social Science and Science. I feel that using visual art activities provide at-risk children with an opportunity to experience success and raise their self-esteem. Thank You for supporting public schools!
