My Project

I teach twenty-five kindergarten students in my city. My school serves students from Pre-K to 8th grade. My school is a multicultural elementary school which includes a lot of learning styles. Seventy percent of our students come from very low income homes where learning is a low priority.

My students love to gather together to read.

The rug provides a space for small group instruction, which is a central part of the classroom. In math and reading, students will gather together to use learning center games. Students would gather together to create writing activities. Social skills would develop by students sharing ideas and learning from each other. Having a rug for students to sit on and gather together would impact learning in many ways.
