This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What happens in Kindergarten... lasts a lifetime! Kindergarten is where children develop the primary skills that form the foundation of reading, computations, and social and emotional learning. It is important to create and build optimal environments for learning and growing!
My students love being in charge of their own learning and are eager to grow!
I teach at a low-income, Title I school with diverse populations; the school is also one of the most diverse schools in the nation! They come to school every morning eager to learn and always give their best effort.
My Project
As the year has just begun, I quickly noticed that my classroom is lacking an awesome easel! Our current easel that was in the room previously has broken wheels and broken hinges so the easel won't open. The students and I will be using this easel and magnetic letters to model letters and have students actively engaged in word building. This also plays a role in building their phonemic awareness, phonics skills, and sight word recognition. The easel will also be used to hold big books that are read to the class in whole group and small group for guided and shared readings. The whiteboard can also be used for solving math problems and modeling writing for my students.
This easel will increase student engagement and academic achievement in all content areas!
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement! The easel and letters will . not only reach this year's students, but many many years of students to come.
