My school is a Title I school, which means it has been designated as being highest poverty in our district. Our school is a place where collaboration and parent involvement are the key to social and academic growth in our students. We have a safe and nurturing environment to help students blossom. Our students are beautifully unique and embrace learning.
Our students will change the world for the better.
They are innovative, loving, generous, kind, and are very grateful for all of the challenges and blessings that life brings. These kids inspire our entire school. They always want to know more and the result of their growth every day is incredible.
My Project
What is a Kindergarten classroom without the proper use of data analysis. Data binders will serve as a tool for fostering intentional and purposeful learning for my students. In my classroom, I like to start with self-reported grades. Helping them take control of their own learning would be an important skill for their future education.
They can be an important part of helping students set and reach goals.
The binders will change over time. Students will be able to pick up grid paper when they needed, and they can monitor their personal and academic growth in a number of areas (sight word, phoneme segmentation, letter naming, and the list goes on). Charting growth can give students the visual they need to see how they are progressing. These binders will help facilitate student-led conferences. Compiling student work samples can help you share with parents how their child has grown or what struggles they are working on overcoming.
