Help me give my students a calming corner that includes a comfortable seating area with flexible seating, soothing colors, and items to express and understand their emotions.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year's kinder friends are the first group to have a "semi-normal" school year, but the effects of the pandemic are evident in their social-emotional needs and well as their readiness for learning. Some of our kinder friends struggle with expressing and understanding their feelings resulting in outburst of anger, frustration, or sadness. Others struggle with maintaining focus with the traditional seating in the classroom.
A calming corner will provide a safe, soothing, comfortable area for our kinder friends to learn how to regulate their emotions to prevent and reduce outbursts.
For our kinder friends who are struggling with traditional seating, providing flexible seating options will allow them to take charge of their learning and make the choices that best fit them.
