This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My kindergarteners are explorers, dreamers, and bright sparks just beginning their learning journey. Every day, they arrive bursting with curiosity, energy, and a desire to connect with the world, with each other, and with themselves.
This project will bring a sensory table, alphabet-themed fillers, tactile letter centers, and hands-on materials into our classroom, turning it into a vibrant space for learning, healing, and growth.
These tools will help my students master foundational literacy skills while exploring their identities through sensory play.
Sensory activities are more than just fun—they’re powerful. They help children regulate emotions, develop empathy, and build social skills. For students with sensory sensitivities, diverse needs, or language barriers, this space will be a haven for expression and connection.
As Mr. Rogers said, "When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary.”
