This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What was your favorite field trip as a child? Was it the local museum? The zoo? The aquarium? Or maybe the nature preserve? We want to help create these memories for our students. We want them to remember the exciting field trip they took in first grade.
Our students are amazing!
They are curious about the world and LOVE science! All of our students receive free or reduced lunch and eighty percent are English Language Learners.
Despite the hardships that are out of their control (poverty, violence, drug/alcohol abuse), my students come to school like any 1st grader should---excited to learn!
My Project
We want to take advantage of the resources our city has to offer in order to enhance and expand our students' love of learning. Kidspace is a kid-friendly museum where our students will be able to explore scientific principles through hands-on exploration and to express themselves using different tools. There are indoor and outdoor exhibits that will provide our students with opportunities to wonder, touch, make, create and nurture their love of learning. Who knows? Maybe this trip will inspire our kids to pursue physics, paleontology, or botany! Your generous donations for transportation and admission for 150 first-grade students this 2015-2016 school year will have a lasting and profound impact.
Learning cannot be limited to a textbook and a classroom.
