My Students
One of my favorite things about public education is how students learn to be around any and all people from any and all backgrounds. My school is a Title I school which means we have a large portion of our population receiving free or reduced cost lunch, before and after school care, and many are homeless or live in unstable homes.
My school focuses on the learner dispositions of grit, taking ownership, reflecting, motivation, and self-control.
We believe that these life skills will help our students become successful, well-adapted, life-long learners.
No matter what background any of my students come from I believe that with hard work they can make their futures what they want them to be.
My Project
What kind of impact does recess have on education?
Research shows that students do better academically, have fewer behavior problems, and are more attentive in class when they have more recess.
Providing students with enough equipment to play, solve problems together, have unstructured free time, and be outside is a necessary part of education and beneficial to their growth and development.
Recess time is already so limited, making sure students have plenty of choices helps them use their free time in a positive way! Please help provide new sports equipment to use at recess and get their energy out.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
