Help me give my students a clean, comfortable classroom carpet so we can safely learn together.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Hester's classroom raised $620

My Students
My students are happy five and six-year-old children from central Florida. We use a large learning carpet during our learning day for whole group instruction in reading and math, small group gathering, and center time. A learning carpet is the central part of any early childhood classroom.
We are a Title I school.
We have about 97 percent of our students that receive free or reduced-rate lunch. Many come from economically disadvantaged families with one parent homes or raised by other family members.
My Project
A clean, colorful carpet is the most important place in a kindergarten classroom. The carpet is the place we gather for morning meetings. We have our storytime on the carpet. The carpet is used for center time when we are building blocks and putting puzzles together.
Covid 19 has changed how we will gather on on carpet.
The children need defined spaces to sit where they will be sitting safely. The buttons on the carpet selected in the grant will not only allow the teacher to spread the children out to manage distance monitoring, it also matched the classroom mascot, Pete the Cat.
The current classroom carpet has been used for the past ten years. It is stained and has been soiled throughout that time. It is cleaned annually in the summer but has seen a lot of children through those years. A fresh carpet will give us a germ free place that will be sanitized daily.
Covid 19 has brought a lot of changes in kindergarten classrooms. My hope is to provide the safest learning environment for my students.
