My Students
I teach at a high-performing public charter school. We currently serve grades K-6 and will add one grade level per year until we reach K-8. About 89% of our scholars qualify for free or reduced-rate lunch. My students are voracious learners who love an academic challenge; they have big personalities and even bigger dreams. Our school empowers students to excel academically and instills the character strengths they will need to be successful. We believe in the power of each and every scholar to someday change the world.
My Project
My scholars are entering month ten of remote learning, these materials will be used to continue to motivate them through this time. As social learners, many are having difficulty staying motivated when it comes to completing their classwork and staying engaged in class discussions. Scholars earn weekly scholar dollars by attending all of their virtual classes, submitting homework and classwork assignments, and exhibiting our school core values each day. The dollars scholars earn accumulate on a weekly pay check which can then be spent in our classroom store.
These resources will be used as incentives for our middle schoolers to keep them motivated and encouraged to learn while remote.
The prizes will consist of masks, drawing and science experiment kits, and games that our scholars expressed interest in to name a few examples.
Throughout the year, our scholars have been actively involved in taking surveys on prizes and incentives they would like to see throughout the year to encourage them in their studies. With that, all of these materials were requested by scholars.
