Help me give my students the opportunity to take full advantage of our Chromebooks. Ninety percent of my current class headphones don't work. My students won't be able to perform well on testing without properly working headphones.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 25 of the most enjoyable students I have ever had the pleasure of teaching in all my years of teaching. They come to school with a willingness and eagerness to learn new things.
The majority of my 25 come from very difficult and unstable home lives.
They live with only one parent and often times don't even know the other parent. Many of their parents work multiple jobs just so their child can come to our school and get a quality education.
My Project
Research says that African-American students are at a significant disadvantage when it comes to state testing. Imagine now being unable to use one of the major tools to help their scores improve?
My class set of headphones are non-functioning.
Ninety percent of activities we currently use to enhance student learning are completed through apps and web browsers by using their chrome books. Almost all of these need headphones to be properly maximized.
I teach in a 90-95% African-American school. Many of my students' families struggle just to put food on the the table so they are unable to go out and buy their child even the cheapest headphones. By giving my students every opportunity to succeed, maybe they will prove the research wrong.
