My Students
I have 18 wonderful students this year. They come to school each day with a smile on their face and a desire to learn. They get so excited about each task during the day and always want to do their best. They are from a small rural area in central Illinois. Many of them are from low income families. Our school district is a Title 1 district, where all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. We are a K-2 elementary building.
My Project
The students in my classroom would like headphones to help in listening centers and online math and reading centers. We were very fortunate to have a project for Kindle Fires funded on DonorsChoose.org. Now that we have our Kindles the students are having some much fun learning and exploring. They need the headphones to help control the noise in the classroom now. Having the headphones would help to cut done on the noise the math and reading games as well as online books and educational videos make. The students in teacher lead groups would not have the distraction of the tablet sounds.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
