Kids' Competition Kit

My Students

My students are awesome! Each year, I am lucky enough to teach honors students who challenge themselves, their peers, and their teachers to always do their best! They work hard and motivate me to work hard with them. We love fun and engaging lessons to push students to their highest ability and to differentiate instruction to meet each one's individual needs. Despite what many people believe, gifted students need the same love and dedication that other students need. They are not "easier" to teach, they just love learning!

My Project

This project is a little different than my others. While I'm still working with my honors students, I'm expanding this to accept sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. In addition to teaching them, I coach academic team, which tends to be exclusively an honors group. In the past three years my kiddos have advanced to the regional competition, and two of those years we even advanced to state! We hold our own against private schools in the region and make public schools proud. We're going to use these games to get us ready to win state!

More than twenty schools compete in the state competition, and we are up against the best of the best.

My kids can hold their own. Both times they advanced to the state competition they were undefeated! I want to use these games to provide more and varied ways to practice, and I also want to encourage others to join the group. Appealing to the sixth and seventh graders is the way I keep the club growing every year!

We are asking for trivia and learning games like Trivial Pursuit for Families. There are many card games that focus on different areas of content. One deck in particular, art, is an area we usually struggle with in competition. In addition to our main yearly competition, there are other smaller competitions. One we typically perform well in is strictly a social studies competition. This would explain why many/most of the games relate to the social sciences. I know with your help I will be able to build excitement for the club that is often overlooked!
