My Students

We are a neighborhood school serving the community since l927. In addition to general education students, our students represent 23 language groups, many of them English language learners, and students with special needs. Our mission is to develop joyful learners by providing them with support, encouragement, and opportunities for challenge.

Our students are enthusiastic learners who thrive on creativity and being challenged!

They are motivated by high-interest level curriculum and hands-on learning opportunities. They also love being able to explore, create new things, and are highly motivated by student centered learning. We are always looking for ways to provide them with tools that will help them maximize their potential.

My Project

In the world today, jobs are requiring more things like creativity, collaboration, and communication skills. As elementary school teachers, we must begin to lay the foundation for these skills with our students. In July I had the opportunity to attended a training in Coding and Robotics where I was able to learn about KIBO. Through this workshop I was able to participate in many hands-on activities and I was able to see first hand how exciting and interactive using KIBO could be. Instantly, I knew that I had to use KIBO robots with my Pre-K to Second Grade students in our STEM lab!

By having KIBO robots, my students can build, program, decorate, and bring their own stories to life while building important life skills!

KIBO will help my students have opportunities for open-ended play in a way that is unplugged from "playpen" technology. Help me put this amazing training to good use in our STEM lab and allow me to share my excitement of KIBO with my students.
