Kids Calming Corner

My Project

The materials I am requesting will help my Kindergarteners with their Social-Emotional Learning and overall development. Little people have big emotions and need to place to sort them out. A calming corner is just the right space to help students work through their emotions. We do a lot of work as a class on how to manage our feelings and this corner of the classroom will help when a student needs to process things on their own away from the group.

The items on my list will help to create a space that is warm and welcoming.

The timers, fidgets, and bubble timers will be used by each student to choose their own way to calm themselves. The organizer will be used to sort the fidgets and timers. Then each student can find the timer and fidget that best helps them find peace and calm. The posters will be put up in the corner and will give them choices of yoga movements and breathing exercises. Each child is different and each one needs to find their own way to regulate their emotions.

Having a Calm Down Corner in the classroom will help all kids learn lifelong learners of emotional regulation.
