My Students

My students are energetic and dedicated sixth grade students! They have built a community of cooperation and inclusion over their years at our school. They come from a lower middle class community with hard working parents. They are artistic and motivated to complete projects.

Our class is filled with compassion and dedication to the motto of getting better every day.

One way these students can achieve positive gains in their educational journey is by using their excess energy in inconspicuous ways.

My Project

There are many different needs in my 6th grade classroom and so much curriculum to teach in a day. Kids need more opportunities to move their bodies in order to use their brains more effectively. They also need a calming environment to improve their focus.

This project will assist them in accessing more movement in their day.

Kids will use the bands on their chairs to rest their feet or to bounce or kick their feet as they need to. The fidget toys will allow them a break if they become overwhelmed with a task or if they need an emotional release. Rocker chairs will be used to give students alternate seating during reading time and the blue lighting will create a soothing atmosphere.
