Kicking Lice Out of Our School

Help me give my students the lice treatment. I have two students who have had chronic lice all year long. This has impacted other students. We also need a sound system so that we can hold outdoor assemblies.

My Project

The students have really struggled with focusing since the COVID shutdown. They lost preschool opportunities to learn skills like sitting and listening. I have had several students with chronic lice this entire school year. They are constantly distracted by the discomfort of itching, when they are already very distracted. They have passed it on to me and several other students. It is very expensive to constantly be treating hair for lice. The families in my classroom are struggling financially to address the problem. I want to be able to provide the proper treatment for students so they can be in school comfortably and can focus on what is important. We are also still building back the sense of community. Assemblies are a great way to bring students together. We have a large school and often times our cafeteria is occupied, so we need to hold outdoor assemblies. It is difficult for teachers to yell to the large group outdoors. The sound system will help students to be able to better enjoy and participate in assemblies.
