My Students

I teach at an urban elementary school in a low-income/high poverty school district. It is an exceptionally diverse student body- racially, culturally, and socio-economically. Many of our students speak languages other than English. The students at our school come to school with diverse backgrounds, cultures, languages, and families.

Our students love to LEARN!

Our school community embraces this diversity and honors all children. Despite a variety of challenges our students may face, one common thread among them is their complete excitement for learning and engaging in school activities. We try to meet the needs of all of our students in person and through distance learning.

My Project

These materials will be distributed to each of my students as a way to welcome them back to school after the Winter Break. The distance learning road has been longer than expected and it is time to mix things up!

Students will receive STEAM kits to build at home, new multicultural crayons, fidgets, whiteboards and more to enrich their distance learning experience.

Even though we are apart, my hope with this project is to feel more connected with doing more hands on activities and being able to interact with each other virtually by being able to share and show work in more ways.
