Kickin' Out Pottery Art Masterpieces!

My students need a Skutt Thomas Stuart Kick Wheel so that they can make pottery in the classroom. Having this type of wheel makes it useful for both left and right handed pottery makers.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Kuehny's classroom raised $1,358

My Students

I teach in a small school district and will be working with students in 6th through 12th grade. The community is very close-knit and it is common for the teachers to not only know the students, but their student's parents and grandparents, siblings and cousins. We have access to internet in the classroom, but unfortunately, the tools that we need to practice different types of art, such as a wheel for clay, have not been updated since the early 1980's. Because we are a rural school, the students in our school don't have access to art clubs and museums that you might see in many cities. The access that my students will have regarding art will, in most cases, come from my class.

My Project

Students in our school will have the opportunity to create pottery projects using the kick wheel. Currently, students have to create pottery by hand, which often results in uneven or lopsided projects.

Giving students access to the kick wheel tool gives them the opportunity to work with a professional machine so that they can get a true art experience.

Students will be able to make coffee cups, candle holders, vases, candlesticks, pitchers, plates, bowls, flower pots and sculpture parts.

Your generous donation to our project will improve our 6-12 art classroom by providing a tool that will support pottery projects for the next 15 years or more. Thank you so much for your consideration on this project!
