Aloha, part of my responsibilities at the high school are to coordinate the May Day program that has been a long-standing tradition that everyone looks forward to each year. It is my goal to get student involvement in restoring kāhili (feathered insignia to symbolize royalty) for their upcoming performances in May of 2024.
Hana noʻeau or skilled-craftwork is an essential aspect of reclaiming identity through customs in Hawaiʻi.
This is an enormous undertaking that I spearhead with the help of many community members who are alumni of this school. It is essential that we continue to uphold aspects of culture that allow us to be proud of who we are.
