This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever started to learn an instrument, but then the teacher and the instrument were taken away from you? No? Well, this is the situation my students are facing. My students have been learning the piano for the entire school year and coming to lessons twice a week. Now due to the pandemic, they are still coming to virtual lessons, but they do not have any instruments to practice with. They are seeing other members of the class with instruments and they are getting frustrated. These students who are unable to get an instrument should be able to continue practicing because of how hard they have been working without an instrument.
My Project
My students have been studying piano all year at school with lessons twice a week. When this pandemic hit, students who were able to buy a piano did. However, some of my students were not able to buy pianos.
This pandemic did not stop them from coming to weekly piano lessons without a piano.
Some students got creative by using a toy that had a piano sound or another device. However, these tools cannot replace the touch of the keys. Please give my students who are now working harder to learn an instrument a piano! They have shown their passion for learning an instrument is stronger than this virus.
