My Students
At my school, my Kindergarten through sixth grade students are driven and work well with their classmates to achieve goals and produce meaningful, enjoyable work. My students are engaged in modern band and enjoy playing in ensembles together throughout our community. They've performed on instruments such as drums, bass, electric guitar, ukulele, piano/keyboards, voice and more! My students enjoy performing for our community and are truly proud of the work that they are able to do together. Thank you for supporting our amazing students!
My Project
Modern Band is a new school based music program that utilizes popular music as its central canon. Modern band teaches students to perform the music they know and love and to compose and improvise. Styles that are studied include rock, pop, reggae, hip-hop, rhythm & blues, electronic dance music, and other contemporary styles as they emerge. Modern Band also utilizes (but is not limited to) the musical instruments that are common to these genres: guitar, bass, drums, piano, voice and technology. We are very fortunate to have keyboards that were donated to our classroom; however, they do not have keyboard stands. The keyboard stands would be extremely helpful for our students when practicing and performing using keyboards in their modern bands.
