Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Sitting at desk and filling in blanks on worksheets should not exist now. Our children need to have technology in their hands. They need to collaborate through media. At the end of the school year I would like my students to be able to type comfortably, not stumbling through a keyboard.
My students need a lot of experiences to happen at school.
They come from low income families. Learning needs to take place at school and their access to devices at home is limited. My learners love using technology and work in teams to complete projects. My school is trying to move into the technology era. I notice on a daily basis how using computers and iPads have transformed the learning taking place in my classroom. "I want to be a meteorologist now!", a student said this week. My students are now learning about careers in science and math. My students are our future engineers!
My Project
With the two mini iPad keyboards my students will be able to type their observations from science experiments that take place at least three times a week. They will also be able to type the steps that were taken in order to solve the word problem. They will be able to type their inferences made after reading a nonfiction article related to a current objective. My students will use the stylus pens to draw out math number sentences and draw out what they visualized in order to solve the word problem.
Your donation will make it possible for my students to be able to manipulative the keyboard and with stylus pens, easily draw what is being asked.
No longer should we wait to learn how to use the keyboard until middle school; let's start in elementary school. My students will be able to use their time more effectively not looking for a key for a certain letter but typing their trail of thoughts in order to create something innovative.
