My Students

My students live in rural Maine. Many come from a low socio-economic background. They are passionate about our school and our community. In my Film Studies class, students are interested in creating historical documentaries to show their learning and mimic the techniques filmmakers use in the process. Students report that history has come alive by doing real research and creating their own films.

My students are excited to learn more about historical film making and use technology in the process.

My Project

Students will use the document camera to capture historical artifacts in high definition. We have laptops to use iMovie and so they can create documentaries that explain a significant issue in history and use the techniques they learn about in my History v. Hollywood (Film Studies) class.

Viewing the finished product on high-quality equipment will help them be better filmmakers!

They will be able to save their large movie files to the portable hard drive, and once their films are completed, they will be able to watch them in HD on the Television and listen to them in high-quality audio using the soundbar.

This project will teach them about film making, analyzing historical artifacts, and instill a level of confidence they will need when they go off to college.
