This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Visual literacy is an important component of education. Help our Technology and Arts Magnet students make history come to life through the use of bold and powerful images.

My students are fun, fantastic, creative, talented, and love doing projects.

I am always impressed by their willingness and ability to help each other. They look forward to coming to school every day and are always happy to collaborate, sharing ideas and skills.

My Project

Students will use watercolor paper, fluorescent and bold colored tempera paint,stencils, Graffiti-style letters, self-made cut-outs of Keith Haring's "Radiant Baby", and other supplies to create a work of art, based on a historical event, and inspired by the Pop Art of the 1980's.

This project is important because it is the culmination of a series of art projects showcasing their understanding of the 8th grade Social-Science content standards.

Having done collages, figure-drawing, calligraphy, and numerous other sketches; students will have the opportunity to work with a new medium, demonstrating their knowledge of U.S. History, with a topic/event of their own choice, while working in a collaborative setting with their peers. Final projects will be showcased.
