My Students

In my classroom I try to provide a variety of hands-on learning experiences that appeal to many styles of learning.

My school is located in a developing area with many young families.

Our school is working to grow relationships throughout the community and to foster a sense of belonging among the students. Many students here have attended many elementary schools and will not finish their primary school career at this one. I want to provide high level learning opportunities for my students in the short time that I have them in my charge.

My Project

Throughout the school year, we will work to create a portfolio of work that represents the fourth grade school year for each student. The portfolio will include lessons and activities across the curriculum but will primarily contain writing projects. Students will be anxious to produce quality work as they know the products will go into their end of year portfolios. As the year draws to a close, together we will reflect on the things learned and progress made for each student. The portfolios will be a keepsake quality work the students can proudly feel represents their best. The file folders and index cards will be used to keep work organized. The composition books will be used for vocabulary. The paper trimmer and 3-hole punch will be useful in constructing the finished product that students will take home at the end of the school year.

The supplies I am requesting will improve the quality of the portfolio the students are able to produce.

Students will feel committed to doing their best work as they know it will be added to their keepsake quality portfolios. I am most excited for my students to see the growth they have made throughout their fourth grade year and know that this will provide a great sense of achievement and help to nurture their love of learning.
