My Students
I never go through a day without a student's big smile and a happy wave in my school. My students come from a high-poverty area where resources are stretched thin. We are a Title I school where 83% of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
Often, my students struggle in school and really deserve the supplies they need to meet the standards they will eventually be tested on.
They are all visual learners and need concrete examples to help them understand and comprehend their learning skills.
My Project
As it starts to get colder here in East Texas my students will want to go outside to recess and may not have what they need. I would love to be able to give each of my students a warm winter scarf to wear daily. Several students come to school without even a jacket so this is something small I can help them with. I would also like to provide each of my students with a reusable water bottle. This school year our school has turned off all water fountains due to COVID and not all students come to school with their own bottle.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
